How the test works

You see a sequence of cells flash on the 3×3 grid — one at a time. After the pattern finishes, you click the cells in the same order. Get it right, and the next round adds one more cell to the end. Miss a single cell and the run ends.

What’s a good score?

  • 5–6 steps — below average.
  • 7–9 steps — average. The 7±2 rule in action.
  • 10–13 steps — good. You’re chunking.
  • 14–17 steps — excellent. Top 10% of the population.
  • 18+ steps — exceptional working memory.
